Yes, Scottie Scheffer is on a run, he’s playing such frighteningly dominant golf that his caddie is currently out earning world #2 Rory Mcilroy on the PGA Tour, but we gotta talk about Nelly Korda.
Granted this will all be a little biased because she’s not only the owner of my favorite move in golf but would probably be my favorite golfer in the world if I had to pick one, however if Nelly wins this weekend she will become the first golfer in the LPGA’s 74 year history to ever win 6 in a row. That’s a hell of a streak.
Streaking, is a hotly debated topic. Analysts, mathematicians and psychologists have been breaking down the anatomy of a streak for decades and there’s still no real definitive answer. I’m a big baseball guy and have been an avid New York Yankees fan since I was 6, so I could talk about the Yankees 1998-2000 run, but a situation like that isn’t what I would call streaky. I think that could be considered more of an accumulation or tipping point effect, caused by an incredible front office in the way of player farming and acquisition, paired with the chess like strategy of Manager Joe Torre. It was more like, utter dominance by the greatest sporting organization in the history of sports (sorry, not sorry).
